The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A) oversees The Open, which is held annually at a different R&A venue in a different part of the UK. Usually, it happens in July before the third Friday of the year.

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club will once again host The Open, marking its 151st edition. This remarkable venue has welcomed the prestigious tournament for the 13th time, with its last occurrence taking place in 2014 when Rory McIlroy emerged as the victorious player. Australian Cameron Smith, who won his first major championship in 2022 by one stroke over his nearest competitor, Cameron Young, will be the defending champion in 2023.
