From 29 September - 1st October 2023
The Ryder Cup is a men's golf tournament held every two years between Europe and the United States. The first Ryder Cup was held in 1927 at the Worcester Country Club in Worcester, Massachusetts. While the Ryder Cup was originally contested between Great Britain, Ireland, and the United States, a decision was taken in 1979 to include continental Europe in the competition. After a lengthy period of American supremacy, Europe has acquired the upper hand in head-to-head competition since 1979.
The Ryder Cup's current matchplay format features two 12-person teams. There are 28 matches total in the competition, each lasting 18 holes, and they all take place from Friday through Sunday. Each match's victor receives 1 point for their team, and a tie results in each team receiving a half-point. The team that secures the most total points will get the chance on Sunday to compete for the Ryder Cup trophy and bragging rights for the next two years.
One of golf's most prestigious events, the Ryder Cup, will take place from September 29–October 1, 2023, at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy. This year, Europe will fight to revenge its 19-9 loss to the USA in 2021.
