The Solheim Cup is a biennial women’s team golf event played over three days between the USA and Europe from September 13–15, 2024, at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. It serves as the female equivalent of the men’s Ryder Cup. In 1990, the first edition was held, and golf club manufacturer Karsten Solheim played an important role in its development and was honored with the tournament's name.

The Solheim Cup is one of golf's most renowned, dramatic, and thrilling championships, like the Ryder Cup. The team component elevates the atmosphere above that of an ordinary event.

Europe reclaimed the cup in 2021, winning 15-13 at the Inverness Club in Ohio. The competition will be held in Spain for the first time in 2023, and Europe will be seeking to become the first team to win it three times in a row on home soil.

Solheim Cup 2024 Format

Over the course of the three days, 28 matches are played in three different match play formats—foursomes, fourballs, and singles—with each match contributing one point toward the team's final score. If the competition ends in a 14-14 draw, Europe will keep the Solheim Cup while the team that reaches 14.5 points first wins the competition.
