The Walker Cup is a biennial amateur golf event between 10-man teams from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States of America. The 2023 Walker Cup will be the 49th edition and will take place from September 2-3, 2023, at the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. The USA team led with 38 victories, while Great Britain and Ireland have won nine times and tied one event. In 2021, the USA team won the Walker Cup by a score of 14-12. McCoy represented Team USA in the 2015 Walker Cup. He played 20 U.S. amateurs, and in 2013, he won the Mid-Amateur Championship. He has only played weaker amateurs at the U.S. Senior Open twice. Wilson captains GB&I for the second year in a row; his 2021 team suffers a narrow defeat stateside. Wilson won the 2004 Amateur Championship and struggled at the 2004 Open Championship.

2023 Walker Cup Format

Day 1: The teams play foursome matches in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon.
Day 2: The teams play foursome matches in the morning and 10 singles matches in the afternoon.
